Motion Composites wins 4 Mobility Product Awards 2021

Pssst… Have you heard the news? Motion Composites is the proud recipient of not 1, not 2, but 4 awards this year from the Mobility Product Award 2021 held by Mobility Management Magazine.

For those of you who do not know who Mobility Management is, let us help you get familiar with this publication. As a part of the HME Media Group, Mobility Management is the only industry publication written especially for mobility and rehab suppliers and clinicians.*

Every year, Mobility Management, and its Mobility Product Award program dive deep into the assistive technology world to discover the new, innovative products that are being engineered to help make for a better life in our community. The Mobility Product Award program honors outstanding product and technology development by Complex Rehab Technology and mobility/accessibility manufacturers.

This year, Motion Composites took home the top honors in 4 different categories:

  • Wheelchairs, Manual: Ultralightweight (tie)

Motion Composites, APEX C

  • Wheelchairs, Manual: Standard

Motion Composites, HELIO A6

  • Backs, Wheelchair: Planar Back & Laterals (E2620-2621)

Motion Composites, NXT Xtend

  • Seat Cushions, Wheelchair: Skin Protection & Positioning (E2607-2608)=

Motion Composites, NXT BioFit

Once word got out about our products being recognized, we were very humbled and excited for the honor:

“Wow, words cannot describe how proud I am of our team to continue such excellent work on our products through these past few years (pandemic included!). We will continue to strive to create and adapt new designs to help better serve our community and end users. Bravo team!”, says Motion Composites’ CEO Eric Simoneau.

Here is an overview of what sets us apart when working through the design and creative process.

On the APEX Carbon, Todd Richardson, APEX Carbon user and Motion Composites’ Southeast Regional Sales Manager

Being in an APEX Carbon chair myself, I am extremely proud but not at all surprised about the award. I have been through my fair share of chairs and the use of carbon fiber makes it incredibly light, while the cantilever frame provides optimal comfort by dampening vibrations; the rigidity reduces lateral movement and offers optimal propulsion when I am on the move. The chair is a literal siren to our mantra ‘Go Beyond’ and that is exactly what our engineering team did when creating this rigid chair”.

On the Helio A6, by Alain Chevigny, Product Manager

On this folding model we really wanted to make a chair that kept the integrity, adaptability, and ingenuity of a Motion Composites product while making it more affordable to our end users. The T6000 series aluminum made it cost efficient, durable, and helped maintain the lightweight reputation that we have in the industry.

4 key factors that we implemented in this design that really helped us separate ourselves from the competition: The Helio symmetrical cross brace, one piece side frames, oversized axle, and locking seat saddles. There are some manufacturers that were doing a few of these things but none of them had all 4 components in one model; we knew it was imperative to incorporate these into our A6 design; these components are a true game change.

On the NXT Xtend back and BioFit Cushion, by Alli Speight, Motion Composites’ Clinical Education Director

Seating and positioning are an integral and complex part of the assistive technology world. With the NXT seating line, we pride ourselves in highlighting back supports and cushions that are adjustable, durable and have unique features that are well suited for a variety of clients.

The Xtend back in particular offers built-in adjustability not only within the hardware but in the back shell itself, allowing the length to be customized to the individual at the time of assessment and in the future if things were to change. Our goal is always to ensure our end users are functional and comfortable.

The BioFit cushion has a variety of built-in anatomical features, in addition to the SmartGel foam and state-of-the-art smartx3D fabric, it allows clients to maximize their positioning and skin protection. As a clinical education team, we find it rewarding when we have the opportunity to educate the community on our NXT products because of the impact we know it will have on our clients.

As you can see, there is an exciting buzz going around at Motion Composites and we are even more motivated and focused to keep innovating for people with disabilities.

We would like to thank Mobility Management for the honor of this year’s awards and look forward to many more to come.
