NEW! - COVERING THE BASICS OF CUSHION & BACK SUPPORT COVERS
In the field of seating and positioning there are many factors which come into play when matching the proper support surface to the user. This process will depend on the client’s internal and external risk factors for pressure injuries as well positioning and functional goals. An important factor, though not always given proper consideration, is the cover materials and how this can impact the user. The cushion and/or back support cover, the material the between the user and the support surface, has many purposes but also properties which can aid in the clinical and functional use of the positioning device. In this presentation we will do an in-depth review of cover fabrics and properties to consider depending on client needs. We will also highlight covers features and accessories which can play an important role.

GETTING A GRASP – UNDERSTANDING THE IMPACT OF HANDRIMS
An active wheelchair user will push their handrims 2000-3000 times per day. Due to frequent propulsion, upper extremity repetitive strain injuries are common for manual wheelchair users. With as much interaction as the user has with the handrim, we need to make sure they are given ample consideration during the prescription process.

FUNDAMENTALS WITH FRONT FRAME ANGLES WITH BOB VOGEL
When fitting a rigid wheelchair many factors can be considered to customize for optimal fit, performance, and positioning. An important factor to determine is the front frame angle. Typically ranging from 75°-90° it plays an important role in lower extremity positioning and maneuverability. This session will take a deeper look into factors determining front frame angle and how it impacts function, positioning, and other measurements of the wheelchair.
CIRCLING BACK TO REAR WHEEL & TIRE SELECTION
Functionally rear wheels are critical components in manual wheelchair configuration and performance. They are two of the four points of the wheelchair that come in contact with the environment (along with front casters) and they are the instrument through which independent manual mobility happens! If you look at the complete configuration, rear wheels consist of three components: the wheel itself, the tire, and the handrim. Here we will dive deeper into the variety of specific wheel properties and tires and how they can impact performance for the user.
